The Church seeks with others to reaffirm … that marriage should be reserved for the unique and complementary relationship between a woman and a man from which the generation and upbringing of children is uniquely possible.”

Marriage is important Reflect before you change itWithin weeks the people of Ireland will be asked to vote in a referendum that will change the meaning of marriage in the Constitution of Ireland.

Marriage is of fundamental importance for children, mothers and fathers, and society - all of us need to reflect deeply before changing it.  We ask the people of Ireland to consider very carefully the profound implications that this constitutional amendment would have on the family environment and on our understanding of parenthood.

Pope declares John Sullivan VenerablePope Francis has declared Fr John Sullivan SJ (1861-1933), an Irish Jesuit priest with a reputation for saintliness and healing, Venerable. The Pope signed the official decree recognising the heroic virtue of Fr John on Friday, 7 November, 2014.

lourdes pilgrimageThis September (7th to 12th) the Dublin Diocesan to Lourdes has an allocation of 176 places on the Special Section for the Sick. The sick pilgrims are accommodated in the Accueil Notre Dame which is situated close to the Grotto, and are cared for by voluntary doctors, nurses and helpers from all over the Diocese. At Easter approximately 30 children will travel to Lourdes with the Dublin Diocesan Children’s Pilgrimage..
