new choir membersThe Adult Choir The Donnybrook Church adult choir sings at the noon Mass each Sunday, and at other times of the Church year most notably the Easter ceremonies and Christmas celebrations.

In July of last year many members of the choir took part in ‘The Really Big Chorus’ in Albert Hall in London. Closer to home we raised €1,000 for St Vincent de Paul while carol singing in Tesco Merrion Centre, and, along with the Childrens’ Choir, took part a very enjoyable carol service in the church during Advent. Most recently we were joined by the Garda Choir for a special celebration at the 12 o’clock Mass on Sunday 8th February.

Presently we have 31 very friendly and welcoming members in the choir. Catherine Killoran, our choir director, inspires us and keeps us in good humour (and usually in tune).

We are a four-part choir and are in dire need of tenors and basses, in particular, so that we can continue to sing our repertoire of beautiful Masses and so enhance the liturgy.

Join The ChoirWe meet on Sunday mornings at 10.15am in the Parish Centre to rehearse before the noon Mass. Please don’t think you have to attend every Sunday. Catherine understands that we all have busy lives and need the occasional weekend off for personal or family reasons. The choir also takes a summer break, usually from the end of June to early September.

There is no audition to join the choir, nor do you need to be a parishioner to join. Finally, if you can’t join the choir then do join in the congregational singing. The words of the opening and closing hymns are usually printed in the Missalette, and the sung Our Father is very familiar at this stage.
