At recent meetings, the Parish Pastoral Council has been discussing Sunday Mass times in Donnybrook. At present, we have six Masses every weekend - the Saturday Evening Vigil Mass, four Masses on Sunday morning and the Sunday Evening Mass.

The Council organised a count of the attendance at all the weekend Masses in March. The total average attendance was 1880. Therefore, the average attendance at each Mass was 313 people in a church which seats over 900 people. In the light of these figures, it appears timely to review our Weekend Mass Schedule.

Furthermore, the timing of the four Sunday morning Masses at 9.30am, 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm puts pressure on the worthy celebration of the liturgy and also creates significant car- parking problems. A revised timetable would also allow time for quiet prayer and reflection between Masses.

We now want to have a consultation with parishioners as to what changes should be made in the current arrangements. In particular, it would seem practical to reduce the number of Sunday morning Masses from four to three.
