I thank Monsignor Lorcan O’Brien for inviting me to introduce myself following my appointment as the next Administrator of Sacred Heart parish, Donnybrook.

I take up this office having previously served as Rector of the Pontifical Irish College in Rome for the past nine years.  A priest of the archdiocese of Dublin, I was ordained in 1985.   Over the years I have had the blessing and privilege of ministering in a variety of parishes including University Church, Saggart/Rathcoole and Brittas, Rathmines, Sutton and Naul.   I have also taught ecclesiastical history at various third level institutes and have had the opportunity of contributing to a number of historical works on the Catholic Church in Ireland in the nineteenth century. In addition to my duties in this parish, Archbishop Martin has appointed me as the Vicar for Clergy in the Dublin archdiocese. I look forward to serving the people of this vibrant and energetic parish and meeting as many of you as possible over the coming weeks.  I also take this opportunity to thank Monsignor O’Brien for his years of dedicated service to this parish over the years and wish him every happiness and blessing in his retirement.  Please be assured of my prayers for him and for you even as I ask you to remember me in yours.

May God bless our parish of the Sacred Heart! Amen.
